Well we are finally in China. It is 3:00 pm here now and we landed around 8:30 a.m. Since then it has been a drive to the hotel, check in, change rooms (did you forget Marie is along for the ride?), out to Dimsum with the group for an orientation and then back to the hotel where we can FINALLY take a shower. Of course all of this is after the final insult on this entire delay-ridden adventure that began in June of 2005 - our flight was delayed by 2 hours. We have been told this is the longest flight delay in our agency's history. Fitting. To add to the surreal nature of this long strange trip - our delay was caused by a volcanic eruption in Russia! Sure, why not?
But now we are literally LESS than 24 hours away from getting our Molly. We go to the Civil Affairs office tomorrow at 2:00 where it all happens. What time is that for you? You do the math (see the clocks to your left).
First impressions are that it is HOT!!! Wow. Haven't been this hot and muggy since Singapore. But not even a little sub tropical heat can dampen our spirits.
It was so amazing after all this time to switch from counting the distance between us not in months, weeks or days - but in miles. Finally we have moved physically closer together. Now she has to make a long bus ride up from Dianbai and then mid-afternoon tomorrow our lives change forever. Stay tuned....
