Molly's first train ride and the Strawberry Festival

Every time we read a story that has a train in it Molly asks to ride a train. So we decided we would be adventurous and leave the car back in LA and head up north to Oxnard for the Strawberry Festival on Amtrak. We have a busy summer planned with a major event each month to help past the time until we go to China to bring Gracie home and the train ride to the Strawberry Festival kicked things off. The weekend did not disappoint, Molly had a great time and so did Mom and Dad. Molly even started crying when we told her we had to checkout of the hotel and go home and told us "I don't want to go home"!

Molly enjoying one of the many things strawberry at the festival. The strawberry dress that Nana Dawn made her was the perfect attire for the festival. Thanks Nana Dawn!

We decided that one day at the festival eating and drinking everything strawberry was enough and decided to opt for the 5:00p.m. check out at the hotel and enjoy the pool, boats and the beach.

Molly loves swimming and has been taking lessons for a few months now and becoming quite good! As you can see by her jumping into the pool she is no longer afraid of putting her face in the water. When she is in full practice mode she is down to one floatee on one leg.

Just a little FYI if you are on a tight time schedule I don't recommend traveling by train. It had been a long time since I traveled by train and forgot this fact. We were an hour late arriving and our scheduled train home was 10 hours delayed and we luckily got on a train only an hour after schedule. We were stopped on the tracks after LA experienced an earthquake and the tracks had to be inspected. All in all not too bad and we arrived home two hours late at 11:00p.m.
